Advantages of Facebook Messages!

Have you checked out the new Facebook message system?? Since I basically only do FB via my phone,I’ve just discovered them!

Facebook’s quest for world domination has encroached on email and texting.

Some features of the “Modern Messaging System”include:

Getting a Facebook email:yourname@facebook.com
Texting your friends from within Facebook
Enhanced chat features

With it all working together it makes it easy to keep track of your conversations whether they are by email,message,chat or text!

Despite the further move of Facebook to become the one and only web service,I still think these features are cool!

Hey Jenna,
Great video and thanks for the inspiration. I must confess,for me this is now becoming a “boundaries”issue. I honestly do not need to be in touch with people on various friends/fans/followers lists 24/7 …however I do appreciate that for many people having this capability is a definite plus. Thanks for the information!

I love the new facebook stuff.
Tho everything is coming and changing really fast. Makes it hard to keep up with everything. But never the less…I’m waiting to see a new facebook email address pop up as a lead. It will be interesting!

Hey Jenna,the facebook message system is great fun even though crazy easy to get someone’s fb email address and spam them to death for a scraper bot. Facebook has a long way to go to closing that loophole between our user IDs being visible and it generating email or worst –phone messages. I always love new facebook toys though!

I like the new system. I don’t know about the mobile features because I don’t have a cell phone. And I don’t generally chat on FB. But it sure helps to know at a glance IF,WHEN and WHAT I’ve ever written to a person! For me,it’s a great way to keep from spamming people.

I watched that satirist,The Colbert Report,the other night and he perfomed a monolgue about how the human brain can only handle around 150 real life “friends”. He also made the point that nobody remembers phone numbers any more,they rely on the contacts list in their computer (whether that be phone or PC). The key point,while being hilarious,is that our brains are getting lazy. Funny but true. Its a shame,that without my phone or PC I wouldn’t be able to contact most of my family. I may remember some email addresses but not their street address…..sad. I’m resisting these sorts of innovations nowadays,but I respect your expertise and experience in this area,Jenna.

I think it’s great that folks can message each other from within Facebook. I have yet to go the full mobile route as you have done however and likely won’t do so. Thanks for filling us in.

Yep yep… Great opportunities there added by facebook. I can see how it can be helpful to everyone and I like the advantage for facebook users to have everything they need right in one place. I am not much of a text user though but it’s cool to know it’s there also.

It is interesting how everybody copies each other. Facebook has a social network,so Google has a social network. Google has email,so Facebook gives users an email account. On and on it goes!

Hi Jenna! At first I was in total confusion when this happened because there was a lot of scare tactics I was hearing. I don’t follow negativity so I just said to myself wait and see! But now that I’m going with the flow of Facebook,I understand how powerful the changes are.
I am in the middle of a project I cannot distract myself from so I cannot bling my Facebok Page. Once I’ve finished the new strategies on Facebook will totally enhance what I’m doing.

Donna,you are so right about the negativity. Every change brings out fear in people as we are usually creatures of habit and don’t like our worlds up ended. I guess it could be a product of my business,but I find all the changes facinating…as I do people’s reactions to them! I hope your project is going well!!
