Humble Beginnings

I grew up in a middle-class family in a small southern town. My father grew up extremely poor and worked hard to achieve a good career and a comfortable life for us. He instilled in me a strong work ethic. My childhood was rough and it produced in me a fierce sense of independence and a drive to never give up on my dreams.

The Turning Point

In 2000, I decided to quit a very good job as an engineer to join the Peace Corps.

During my 2 tours overseas, I learned to put my preconceived notions aside to listen and learn what others actually need. I also honed my creative problem solving side that allowed me to assist others in achieving their dreams starting with nothing.

Hard Lessons Learned

After coming home from overseas, I eventually quit engineering and started my own business. This lead to humbling experiences where I learned that having a skill doesn’t mean you know how to run a business. I had naive visions of running a profitable business while pursuing my passion.

Instead, I worked 20 hours a day, 7 days a week with no time for vacations or even date nights. I found other business owners drowning in the same swamp. This lead me to tap into the engineering, analytical side of my brain and immerse myself into business operations. I fell in love with how processes can bring owners from owning a job to owning a business.

A Passion Born

Rough times in my own business led me to pick up work with a local business owner.  He was eyeball deep in a successful, but extremely time intensive and personally taxing business. Soon, he turned the operational quagmire over to me and I dove in.

Within a year, he went from having 12 people all reporting directly to him, down to just 2.  I brought his staff from mass confusion, to clearly understanding everyone’s roles and responsibilities.  We delegated much of his work, which freed up his time to pursued his passion, both professionally and personally. I put together the processes to improve the inconsistent client results and increase the lead conversion, which helped lead to a 70% increase in revenue.

My passion was born and he then helped me branch out to start creating these miracles for other business owners.
